Karma Automotive Unveils the Stylish 2025 Kaveya Coupe
Nowadays, electric cars and SUVs are a dime a dozen. But only a select few have attempted to craft an exotic EV sports car, and Karma Automotive has recently unveiled their latest attempt, the Kaveya coupe. As one of the first high-end EVs to be released, the Kaveya is a magnificent vehicle offering scissor doors and over 1,000 horsepower. With its stunning design and innovative features, the Kaveya is a vehicle that will relaunch Karma's brand and be what the company calls the "embodiment of American luxury."
Exterior Design
The exterior of the brand-new Kaveya offers design elements that resemble something from a sci-fi movie. For example, the model's wiper blades are hidden under a retracting panel to offer a better aesthetic. There's even an active rear spoiler that raises from the middle. When fully deployed, the spoiler extends outward, making the Kaveya look like nothing else on the road. However, only some elements are futuristic, as the headlights, which are concealed behind covers, take inspiration from the popup headlights of the '80s and '90s.
With the battery resting behind the passenger's seats, the Kaveya will feature a trunk and a frunk. Karma says that the frunk is designed to hold duffle bags. While the rear cargo area is designed for larger items. Karma hasn't released any info on the model's cargo dimensions.
Then there's the model's lighting elements, which are truly special. Its crosshair-like lighting is found on both the front and the rear, and when charging, the lights found on the hood and front fascia will fade in and out as the state of charge increases.
Interior Design
As you step into the cabin, through the model's scissor doors, you'll find that for a two-door model, the Kaveya is quite roomy. There's plenty of legroom and headroom even for tall passengers, and the sharp creases and folds make the cabin feel unique. To add to the model's futuristic design, the Kaveya has no physical buttons - instead, it opts for a full touchscreen and capacitive buttons. Additionally, the steering wheel is distinctive as it is not round. Instead, it has a butterfly or yoke design with two half-circles on both sides.
With the batter sitting behind the passengers and not under the vehicle, the interior of the Kaveya is much lower than your typical EV. Unlike other EV models, this decision gives the model a distinct cockpit feel.
Performance
Two powertrains are set to be released with the new Kaveya model. There will be a dual-motor rear-wheel-drive model offering 536 horsepower that will be released in 2025. Then there's a more potent tri-motor all-wheel-drive model with 1,180 horsepower set for release at the end of 2026. According to Karma, with so much power, the tri-motor model will reach zero-60 in less than three seconds.
Charging & Range
Powering every Kaveya model is a 120-kWh battery pack mounted behind the driver and passenger seats. With this battery, Karma says, the Kaveya can deliver more than 250 miles of range on a single charge. Karma also says the high-voltage electrical architecture found inside will allow the Kaveya to charge at any DC charging station rapidly, and it can go from 10 to 80 percent capacity in as quickly as 45 minutes.
